Talk Back: The Series Premiere of AMC's The Walking Dead

Here's to hoping you did more on Halloween than just go trick-or-treating.

Last night marked the series premiere of AMC's new horror series The Walking Dead. While you already read my advance review of the first three episodes here, now that TWD has premiered, I'm curious to know just what you thought about the zombie apocalypse drama.

Were you put off by the gore and violence? Or was it just the right amount of muck and mayhem for you? Did you believe British actor Andrew Lincoln as a Southern cop? Were you on the edge of your seat the entire time? Watch through clenched fingers? Unable to look away? Did the pilot episode linger with you the rest of the evening?

Also, were you struck by similarities to both 28 Days Later and Survivors? Did you feel it advanced zombie mythology or, er, regurgitated it?

And, most importantly, will you tune in again to The Walking Dead next week?

Talk back here.

Next week on The Walking Dead ("Guts"), Rick unknowingly causes a group of survivors to be trapped by walkers; as the group dynamic devolves from accusations to violence, Rick must confront an enemy far more dangerous than the undead.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it really grabbed me as a drama and then added a real shock-value when the zombies would appear. I think the show also does a fantastic job of providing the emotional connection between the living and the dead. My wife certainly was cringing during the horse-meat scene.

I thought it was incredible, and very true to the source material. Wonderfully atmospheric and creepy. The first scene with the little girl in the junkyard, with the absolute lack of music, was deeply disturbing.

This immediately jumps into the very short list of Top Dramas currently on TV (with Dexter, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Big Love and Boardwalk Empire).

Well done, AMC!

I enjoyed the episode a lot, though I thought the pacing was a bit slow at the beginning. It's funny that the opening invokes the memory of 28 Days Later, because that movie did a much better job creating atmosphere while still moving at what felt like a breakneck pace.

Thought the opening sequence with Shane in the car went on too long. I also wish someone would wake up in a show/movie like this, see the walking dead and go, "Well then... apparently there's a zombie epidemic going on." I thought the sequence with Morgan could have been better - the dancing around the word "zombie" was a bit tired and felt like false suspense.

However, overall really liked it and am curious to see where they're going with this, especially given what I know about where the graphic novel went with respect to characters such as Shane. Do you think we're supposed to dislike Shane, given that his opening monologue felt pretty douchey?

Thought it was pretty good, I'll carry on watching it. It's weird seeing lincoln from teachers (a bbc program) as a action lead. Also lennie james another brit going from one apocalypse to another (jericho) He's pretty unlucky.

Was disappointed when he got in the tank that he didn't realise he's in a tank and thus a motorised vehicle rather than trapped. And really, how does the army get beat by zombies/walkers pretty implausible, could have at least had some fast ones.

What about deadset that was good.
