Comic-Con 2008 Wrap-Up: NBC's "Chuck" Panel

Missed last weekend's Chuck panel at Comic-Con, either because you were smart enough to stay far away from San Diego this year (unlike yours truly) or because you couldn't bear to wait in line? Fret not, true believers, as the Peacock was there to capture the event and you can watch the entire panel, which gives an inside look at Season Two and well as what to expect for everyone's favorite Buy More employee/reluctant spy and his fearless friends below: And, yes, I've still got to transcribe the interviews I got with Chuck's Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, and Adam Baldwin, once I get my act together... Season Two of Chuck premieres Monday, September 29th at 8 pm on NBC. Watch the promo for Chuck's sophomore season below: What's On Tonight 8 pm: The Big Bang Theory/How I Met Your Mother (CBS); American Gladiators (NBC; 8-10 pm); Gossip Girl (CW); High School Musical: Get in the Picture (ABC); Teen Choice 2008 (FOX; 8-10 pm) 9 pm: Two and a Half Men/New

Link Tank: TV Blog Coalition Roundup for August 1-3

Televisionary is proud to be a member of the TV Blog Coalition. At the end of each week, we'll feature a roundup of content from our sister sites for your delectation. This week, I recovered from Comic-Con and reviewed BBC America's latest series offering, Primeval , about a group of scientists exploring time-based anomalies and strange creatures. Elsewhere in the sophisticated TV-obsessed section of the blogosphere, members of the TV Blog Coalition were discussing the following items... From Silvio Horta's mouth to her ear, Buzz got some insight into Ugly Betty 's third season. ( BuzzSugar ) It was all about Comic Con this week on Daemon's TV. ( Daemon's TV ) Marcia listed her television blind spots, those TV shows she simply can't be bothered to watch. ( Pop Vultures ) Rae was still recovering from Comic Con but she did manage to get her pictures from the Supernatural press room and panel posted. ( RTVW Online ) Sure Zooey Deschanel can act, but can she

Dying for More "Doctor Who"? A Sneak Peek of the Promo for the 2008 Christmas Special

Hungry for more of Doctor Who now that the fourth season has ended here in the States? Fret not, faithful Who fanatics, I've got a look at the 2008 Doctor Who Christmas Special, which stars David Tennant, David Morrissey ( State of Play ), and Dervla Kirwan ( Ballykissangel ) and features the return of the Cybermen in Victorian-era England. Or more specifically, Christmas Eve 1851. Let's take a look at BBC's promo, which ran immediately following the end of Doctor Who 's fourth season finale, "Journey's End." And, if that wasn't enough, the extended promo which aired during last week's Doctor Who panel at Comic-Con: I don't know about you but I cannot bloody wait.

From Across the Pond: BBC America's "Primeval"

I'll admit that I was skeptical about the premise for BBC America's latest series offering, Primeval , which launches next weekend on the digital cabler. After all, it is the story of a motley band of scientists who investigate anomalies in time and the strange creatures--both prehistoric and futuristic--which have emerged from these rips in the fabric of time. If it sounds to you vaguely like Torchwood , you'd be correct, though I don't believe it was the Primeval producing team's intent to rip-off the Doctor Who spin-off, which teams with a motley band of, er, adventurers and scientists who investigate anomalies in time and the strange creatures--alien in origin--that have emerged from the rift. But while Torchwood is an incredibly bleak, sex-fueled romp through the underbelly of Cardiff (not to mention the entire Doctor Who mythos), Primeval is just the opposite: at times impossibly sunny and inoffensive, it's an action/adventure series for the entire fa

Casting Couch: Thomas Jane to Star in HBO's "Hung"

HBO's comedy pilot Hung has, er, found its leading man. Thomas Jane ( The Punisher ), in a move that marks his first television series role, has signed on to star in the Blueprint-produced comedy pilot Hung, from creators Dmitry Lipkin ( The Riches ) and Colette Burson (who happens to be Lipkin's wife) and director Alexander Payne ( Election ). Jane will play Ray, a struggling high school basketball coach and divorced father of two who is still living in the shadows of his glory days as a star athlete, popular guy, and ladies' man. Struggling to make ends meet, he attends a Learning Annex seminar on marketing yourself and decides to use his only asset: his well-endowdedness. Teaming up with a local poet (a former one-night stand), Ray embarks on a quest to reinvent himself as a gigolo with the, ah, most goods. I was at an industry event yesterday where Lipkin said that Hung wasn't "salacious," except for the rather unconventional set-up and, having read the

"The Worst Review is No Review": Inspiration and Lack Thereof on "Project Runway"

Is it too soon to want to shake some of these designers already? I'm talking about this season of Project Runway on Bravo (the very last season of Project Runway on Bravo, to be specific); unlike previous years, I am distinctly getting the feeling that some of these "eccentric" designers were definitely cast for their quirkiness (speaking in the third person, adding "licious" to every word, being obsessed with leather) more so than their design abilities. Sure, Suede's dress last week was absolutely amazing but if he doesn't stop referring to himself in the third person, I am going to start to root for him to be auf 'd right away. (Yes, it bothers me that much.) And the less said about Blayne the better, in my book. On this week's episode of Project Runway ("Bright Lights/Big City"), the designers were tricked--rather easily, I might add (don't these contestants watch the series?)--into thinking that they were off for a night on

Holy Guacamole: Chris and Jeff Reach an Impasse on "Flipping Out"

I can't believe Chris Keslar left. After all the complaining and half-sobbing and trying to get Ryan to notice his skills, I had figured that Chris was at least sticking around to the season finale of Flipping Out this season. But, alas. The one-time house assistant for Jeff Lewis lasted a measly three months before quitting after an incident involving forgotten guacamole. This week's episode of Flipping Out ("Tapped Out") showed Jeff in a pretty precarious position, as he's forced once again to contend with client-from-hell Courtney, deal with the loss of yet another employee (seriously, he's lost Steven Bowman, Chris Elwood, and Chris Keslar in just the span of a few months), attempts to sell Commonwealth in order to raise some cash, and loses his battle to control his anger after Jenni makes a pretty big mistake that could potentially cost him $30,000 (though one, it should be noted, that is quickly corrected). One has the sense from watching this week th
