What's Up, Doc?: "Who" to Return in April

Thank the TARDIS, Doctor Who fans. It looks like Sci Fi won't let too much time pass between the third and fourth seasons here in the States. The cabler today announced that it had acquired Doctor Who 's fourth season and spinoff series The Sarah Jane Adventures . Both series will launch in April on Sci Fi. The fourth season of Doctor Who will feature David Tennant as the 10th Doctor in his third go-around (again, reason for celebration); he'll be joined by Catherine Tate 's Donna Noble, who reprises her role as the uppity companion from her previous appearance in the Doctor Who Christmas Special entitled "Runaway Bride." Fans of Freema Agyeman's Doctor Martha Jones, however, won't have to fret. Agyeman, after a recurring stint on Season Two of spinoff Torchwood , will rejoin the Doctor in the middle of the fourth season. "We are excited to have Doctor Who back on Sci Fi for its 4th season," said Chris Regina, Vice President of Programming

Who's In and Who's Out: Stacking the Odds on "Project Runway"

I don't know about you but I've totally been going through Project Runway withdrawal since the most recent episode aired nearly two weeks ago. Fortunately, Bravo will air a new installment this week (huzzah!), but in the meantime, I thought I'd take this opportunity to take a look at the contestants still in the sartorial showdown and who I'd like to see head up their own runway show during New York's Fashion Week. Chris Already eliminated once, it's simply amazing that Chris is still in this competition but he's added a level of humor and wackadoo designs that had been missing in the wake of his departure. His designs tend to just slightly but consistently miss the mark but his collaboration with Christian marks a high point for both designers--and the entire season-long competition--as it was just so drop-dead gorgeous that it almost made me wish these diametrically opposite designers would work together all the time. Still, it's only a matter of time

PaleyWatch: SMG Confirmed for "Buffy" Reunion, Tickets

The big news yesterday was, of course, that Sarah Michelle Gellar would join creator Joss Whedon and the cast for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion at this year's William S. Paley Festival, to be held at the Cinerama Dome at the Arclight in Hollywood. I'm hoping that Gellar's presence on the guest list spurs hold-outs Anthony Head and Alyson Hannigan to join up with the rest of the crew, which currently includes Amber Benson, Nicholas Brendan, Emma Caulfield, Eliza Dushku, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Seth Green, James Marsters, and Michelle Trachtenberg. (I'm also hoping they lure former writers Jane Espenson, David Fury, and Doug Petry to the event.) As for me, I've already gotten my tickets so I'll be there (as well as at a bunch of other panels) with bells on. Great big, vampire-repellent bells on. Let's just hope they do something fun and make the pre-panel screening interesting and intriguing: the pilot perhaps? Or "Once More with Feeling"? But

StrikeWatch: Cautious Optimism Are Today's Buzzwords

I've gotten several emails from readers asking if the WGA strike is over and I just have to clear the air here and say: it's not over until we're told by the WGA that it's over. While I want more than anything for the strike to come to a swift conclusion and the writers to walk away with a fair deal, I don't think we should be breaking open the champagne just yet. While all signs point to progress in the ongoing talks between the WGA and the AMPTP, we all know that nothing in this life is for certain and progress is just that: progress. When there is a tentative agreement between the two camps, I will cheer with abandon and when that deal is ratified by a majority of the WGA West and East's 10,000+ members, I will break open the Bollinger. In the meantime, I am advocating maintaining an air of cautious optimism. Can this season still be saved? Possibly. But until there's something concrete, in writing, from the AMPTP that the WGA accepts, talking about which

From Across the Pond: "Last Restaurant Standing"

If you're at all like me, you'll already hungry for another installment of Bravo's culinary competition series Top Chef , but with the series' fourth season not slated to kick off for another month, what is a foodie-minded viewer to do? My suggestion: start watching BBC America's new reality competition series, Last Restaurant Standing , which airs a sneak preview this Thursday evening. The premise: nine couples--some romantically involved, others a mother and son, brothers, etc.--have one week and £5000 to open a restaurant of their own, complete with decor, menus, staff, and, well, paying customers. They're aided in this daunting challenge by renowned restaurateur Raymond Blanc (he of the sinfully delicious Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire) and his three "inspectors," Lee Cash, Sarah Willingham, and John Lederer, who drop by each restaurant in turn to make notes about the quality of the food, the organization of the kitchen and front of

Casting Couch: "Man of Your Dreams" Finds Cast

With the fate of pilot season up in the air until the writers strike comes to an end, studios seem to be pushing ahead with a handful of pilots, rather than the usual dozen or so pilots that a typical year might hold. NBC is going ahead with multi-camera comedy pilot The Man of Your Dreams , which will go into production as soon as the strike ceases. Pilot, starring B attlestar Galactica 's Michael Trucco, revolves around an unrepentant womanizer named Larry who uses his expert skills to help single women find their perfect man. In addition to BSG , Trucco also starred in the 2006 ABC comedy pilot Him & Us , opposite Kim Catrall and Anthony Stewart Head, and recurred on CW's One Tree Hill . The Peacock has now announced that it has secured Trucco's co-stars for the comedy pilot. Constance Zimmer ( Entourage ) will play Liza, Larry's divorced sister who is raising her teenage daughter while running a wedding-planning business. Christina Chang ( CSI: Miami ), has bee
