Channel Surfing: Mark Pellegrino Bites into Being Human, Weeds Snares Richard Dreyfuss, Marg Helgenberger Staying on CSI, and More

Welcome to your (slightly delayed) Thursday morning television briefing. A few headlines to get through on Emmy nomination day... Score another genre hit for Mark Pellegrino. The former Lost and Supernatural co-star is heading to Syfy's US adaptation of supernatural drama Being Human , where he will play Bishop, described as the "charismatic and menacing mentor" to Sam Witwer's vampire Aidan. Pellegrino's casting nearly rounds out the cast for the American adaptation, though there's still one role outstanding (that would be Josh, the werewolf, though there have been rumblings about several actors auditioning for the role). Elsewhere, Patrick J. Adams ( Friends With Benefits ) has been cast as the lead in USA legal drama A Legal Mind , where he will play Mike Ross, described as "a brilliant but unmotivated college student who gets recruited by a top Manhattan corporate law firm despite not being a lawyer" and who must "use his book and street s

San Diego Comic-Con 2010: CBS Announces Hawaii Five-O Details, TNT Brings Falling Skies

While the full schedule of events for San Diego Comic-Con 2010 is still somewhere in the ether, more details continue to emerge about several television-focused events planned for next month. CBS today announces details for its Hawaii Five-O panel, scheduled for Friday, July 23rd in Room 6BCF. No Alex O'Loughlin, I'm afraid (sorry, Moonlight fans!) but on hand will be Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Peter Lenkov, and Len Wiseman to offer a sneak peek at the Hawaii Five-O pilot and an in-depth discussion of the series, launching his fall on CBS. Elsewhere, TNT officially announced its panel for Steven Spielberg's alien invasion drama Falling Skies , set to take place Friday, July 23rd from 4:45-5:45 pm in Room 6A. Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, and executive producer Mark Verheiden will be participating. The official press releases from CBS and TNT announcing these panels can be found below. San Diego Comic-Con 2010: WBTV Announces Full Programming Slate

Warner Bros. Television today announced their full programming slate for San Diego Comic-Con 2010, taking place in just a few weeks now. Among the offerings, Warner Bros. Television will host panels for The Big Bang Theory, Chuck, Fringe, Human Target, Nikita, Smallville, Supernatural, V (which I'll be moderating, in fact), The Vampire Diaries, Children's Hospital, Unnatural History, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, MAD , and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated . (Whew.) I can also now officially announce that the V panel I'll be moderating--which will feature Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort, Charles Mesure, Morena Baccarin, Scott Wolf and executive producers Scott Rosenbaum and Steve Pearlman--will be taking place Saturday from 2:30-3:15 pm in Ballroom 20. San Diego Comic-Con 2010: BBC Announces Lineup, No Doctor Who Panel

Where is the Doctor when you need him? BBC Worldwide America has announced their lineup for next month's San Diego Comic-Con International, bringing back supernatural drama Being Human to the convention, along with cult comedy Look Around You , newly available on DVD Stateside this summer. The big news, however, is that Doctor Who won't be returning to the convention this year, which means no fanfare and audience of thousands for new cast members Matt Smith and Karen Gillan and newly installed head writer/executive producer Steven Moffat. "While the [ Doctor Who ] team is currently filming and unable to attend Comic-Con, that doesn’t mean the Doctor’s presence won’t be felt in San Diego," writes the production entity in an official statement. "BBC America will host an exclusive U.S. premiere fan screening of this season’s two-part finale, along with the all-new season opener of Being Human ." (For their part, the Doctor Who team will be hosting Doctor Who

San Diego Comic-Con 2010: 20th Century Fox Television Announces Lineup

Just a little while after I posted my "Who's In?" post about this year's San Diego Comic-Con International (along with details of the V panel I'll be moderating), I got an email from 20th Century Fox Television in which they spill the details about the eleven series they're bringing to Comic-Con this year. Those series will include Bones, Glee, Sons of Anarchy, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Terra Nova, Futurama, The Cleveland Show, American Dad, Bob's Burgers , and Neighbors From Hell , all of which will present panels in San Diego next month. And, yes, dates and times for the above are included. Intriguingly, both Glee and Sons of Anarchy will be held on Sunday, traditionally a less hectic and relatively more quiet day of programming... while Bones will hold court on Friday afternoon in Ballroom 20 (along with Terra Nova , which is heading to the smaller Ballroom 6A). The full press release from 20th Century Fox Television can be found below. TWENTIETH C

San Diego Comic-Con 2010: Who's In?

Here's an exciting/terrifying thought: San Diego Comic-Con starts a month from today. Yes, the start of the annual pilgrimage to San Diego to fete all things entertainment-related--from comics to television and film and the annual overnight camp-out that is Twilight --is set to take place next month as attendees for the sold-out four-day event descend in droves upon the Gaslamp District. Once again, I too will be making the trek down to Comic-Con, hotel reservations gripped firmly in hand, as I attempt to brave the crowds to attend some panels, some press rooms, and some parties. This year, I'll also be moderating a panel to boot. You can come stop by to see me oversee the panel for ABC's sci-fi drama V on Saturday, July 24th. Joining me on the massive stage will be cast members Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort, Charles Mesure, Morena Baccarin, and Scott Wolf and executive producers Scott Rosenbaum and Steve Pearlman. San Diego Comic-Con: Hotel Hell?

As Shirley Ghostman might say, I feel your pain, I feel your shame, but you're not to blame. Despite the fact that San Diego Comic-Con isn't for several months, the always frustrating hotel reservation process began yesterday, which lit up Twitter with horror stories of reservations gone horribly awry and guests being given none of their twelve top choices--a new feature this year--and instead being placed miles away from the convention center. (Personally, after several years of frustrating experiences that left me nearly ripping out my hair, I ended up landing my first choice this year and didn't have as much of a madness-inducing experience as several people I know.) While it's not a television-related topic per se, I am wondering who at this point is still going to Comic-Con 2010, who has thrown in the towel, and who is still on the fence. Plus, if you are going, where did you end up in the hotel lottery? And did you find the reservation process this year improved,
