Comic-Con 2009: Who's In?

With the schedule for San Diego Comic-Con ever so slowly making its way onto the official website (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are now up), I thought I'd ask once again this year: who's in for Comic-Con 2009?

Passes are once again impossible to purchase at this year's festival (with no on-site registration available for professions or press, no less), which boasts a lineup that includes panels for such series as Lost, True Blood, Chuck, Doctor Who, Flash Forward, V, Torchwood, 24, Bones, The Mighty Boosh, Eureka, Caprica, The Prisoner, Human Target, Dollhouse, Fringe, Psych, Stargate Universe, Smallville, Supernatural, Burn Notice, Robot Chicken, and a host of others. (Seriously, the list goes on and on this year.)

For my part, I'll be covering as many panels and press rooms as humanly possible and reporting from the convention as long as the WiFi connection holds. (My must-see panels this year: Lost, Caprica/BSG, True Blood, Doctor Who, The Mighty Boosh, and Entertainment Weekly's Wonder Women: Female Power Icons in Pop Culture with Elizabeth Mitchell, Kristin Bell, and Sigourney Weaver. Unfortunately, the Chuck panel lets out at the same time that Lost begins, making it rather tricky to negotiate...)

But I am curious to know: which panels are you attending and which are you most looking forward to? What are the must-have seats of this year's Comic-Con?

Discuss and see you in San Diego!

I'm really excited, this will be my first Comic-Con (I'm coming all the way from Boston).

I think I'm most excited for The Middleman panel and a chance to see Dollhouse "Epitaph One" in a room full of other fans.

I'm ecstatic about Comic-Con. It's my first venture to the grand convention and I'll be traveling from Miami, Florida.

I'll only be there on Friday - looking forward to the Bones and Dollhouse sessions. Plus, picking up my special Dollhouse Limited Edition Comic-Con Edition DVD and whatever swag/autographs/etc I can get before my flight that evening :)

I used to love Comic-Con but it's gotten too crazy. And while there are tons of great panels and amazing people there, it's nearly impossible to get into things and I just wind up feeling more frustrated then anything. So, this year I will not be attending but I am looking forward to your coverage!

As much as I'd love to arrange a Television Comic-Con meetup, I don't even know that I have time enough to eat or sleep this year! Though it would be great to meet up with readers at some point.

I'm jealous of all you guys going. I'll be there in spirit (or just sending voodoo curses to all you who can attend)
In stead I'll be sitting here job searching and hoping something falls into my lap.
Or maybe I'll get my ass in gear and start working on my TV pilot or my movie script.

I'm excited! Last year was my first time and I remember thinking it was lots of fun, even though I ended up totally exhausted.

LOST is my number one....everything else will be icing on the cake. :)

Katie Lee Packs Her Knives: Breaking News from Bravo's "Top Chef"

The android has left the building. Or the test kitchen, anyway. Top Chef 's robotic host Katie Lee Joel, the veritable "Uptown Girl" herself (pictured at left), will NOT be sticking around for a second course of Bravo's hit culinary competition. According to a well-placed insider, Joel will "not be returning" to the show. No reason for her departure was cited. Unfortunately, the perfect replacement for Joel, Top Chef judge and professional chef Tom Colicchio, will not be taking over as the reality series' host (damn!). Instead, the show's producers are currently scouring to find a replacement for Joel. Top Chef 's second season was announced by Bravo last month, but no return date has been set for the series' ten-episode sophomore season. Stay tuned as this story develops. UPDATE (6/27): Bravo has now confirmed the above story .

BBC Culture: Matthew Weiner: Mad Men’s creator on its final episodes

The creative force behind the period drama talks about where his characters are as his show begins its final episodes. “We left off with everyone’s material needs being met in an extreme way,” says Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner of where we last saw the characters on his critically acclaimed period drama when the show went on hiatus 10 months ago. “Then the issue is, what else is there?” That is the central question with the return to US TV of the AMC hit, one demanding to be answered by both the show’s characters, and its creator whose success is the envy of the television industry. Mad Men has been a defining part of Weiner’s life for the last 15 years. He wrote the pilot script on spec while he was a staff writer on CBS’ Ted Danson sitcom Becker in 1999, using it to land a writing gig on HBO’s The Sopranos in 2002. It would take another five years, filled with multiple rejections, before the first episode of Mad Men would make it on the air. Someone with less determination or vision

Have a Burning Question for Team Darlton, Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, or Michael Emerson?

Lost fans: you don't have to make your way to the island via Ajira Airways in order to ask a question of the creative team or the series' stars. Televisionary is taking questions from fans to put to Lost 's executive producers/showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse and stars Matthew Fox ("Jack Shephard"), Evangeline Lilly ("Kate Austen"), and Michael Emerson ("Benjamin Linus") for a series of on-camera interviews taking place this weekend. If you have a specific question for any of the above producers or actors from Lost , please leave it in the comments section below . I'll be accepting questions until midnight PT tonight and, while I can't promise I'll be able to ask any specific inquiry due to the brevity of these on-camera interviews, I am looking for some insightful and thought-provoking questions to add to the mix. So who knows: your burning question might get asked after all.
